Bros Brasserie is a welcome new face to the Sioux Falls dining seen. The downtown lacks good bistro spots. Bros Brasserie fills that void and brings a lot to the table. They've remodeled the old 334 space a bit. It seems much more open and has a more functional wine and beer bar, which the previous restaurants were never able to capitalize on. Stopped by later Saturday evening and the place was still very busy close to 9, which is encouraging for a new restaurant. We started with the mussels simmered with stout and onions, which was a very good choice. I settled on the pork belly. I think Bros Brasserie has the distinction of being the first restaurant to bring a pork belly entree to Sioux Falls. It's great to see this kind of variety being brought to the Sioux Falls. The dish showed how brilliant pork belly can be. It was a very healthy portion with crispy caramelized skin served over a flavorful corn succotash and gnocchi. High marks for flavor and pushing the envelope. I had creme brulee and coffee for desert, which were also great. What they've done with the space is great. The menu is innovative, has some old standbys, but also tries to bring add some new things to town that have never been done before. You can't go wrong at Bros Brasserie. I can't wait to go back.

Have been to this restaurant several times. Seems to have gone down hill. Had Veal Chop. It was boring and poorly cooked. Steak was tough, duck was OK. Disappointed, won't be back for awhile. My dogs loved veal chop, most of which I didn't eat

One of my favorite restaurants in Sioux Falls. The food is always respectable. They also maintain a great, local beer selection. The space is the best aspect of Bros though. They have a nice open indoor seating room with big windows and a killer patio for the summer. And don't forget to go for Sunday brunch!

We went for lunch. I ordered the cubano sandwich and soup of the day. The soup was excellent and served with some homemade bread. This was the highlight of my meal. My sandwich sat in a pool of grease. When I took a bite, more grease dripped out of the sandwich. I know it is pork but serving it with all the grease is not appetizing or healthy. I ate 1/4 of the sandwich and couldn't take anymore. My husband had the linguine in clams (oops they were out of clams so offered him mussels). He liked said his meal was ok. The waiter dissapeared after serving the meals so I didn't get to voice my displeasure until he brought the bill. He said nothing about fixing my lunch experience. I just wanted to leave and I won't be back.

The best food I have had in SD, hands down. Cream ale sauced mussels-- the flavor of the bivalves was not drowned by the delicate sauce, only amplified. Delightful to enjoy. For the entree: locally sourced duck, served two ways: char-grilled duck breast and a confit of duck leg, both drizzled with a tart cherry sauce. Turnip and red pepper hash on the side, yum. The duck was so good, I lost interest in the mussels. (And that's coming from a girl who probably could die happy stuffed silly with seafood!) Tender and ever so slightly gamey, the confit melted on the palate. The duck breast was just as good, in a different way: seared rare and lovely. The cherry sauce was perfect on the seared portion. The atmosphere at Bros. is that of a little corner bistro, casual, cafe-style dining. Servers were knowledgeable and attentive. I would guess you could be just as comfortable dining there in dark jeans as in formal wear. In fact, its South Dakota--skip the formalities. Great dinner overall and can't wait to go back.

I am rating this restaurant with 5 stars because of my personal experience at the restaurant and to offset the guy who gave 2 stars... My wife and I went on a Tuesday night, it was busy but not too busy. We were sat next to the window overlooking Phillips, which was charming. We decided against selecting a small plate, and went straight for the main course. The pork belly was exactly how pork is supposed to be- full of flavor and savory to the last bite. My wife had the special of the night, lobster ravioli, and it had an almost uncanny amount of lobster flavor, top notch. The peanut butter banana creme pie was not too rich as we expected, so was a perfect finish to the meal. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The wine list and tap beer selection was great, and you can't go wrong with $2 tall PBRs. Its a great replacement for Cafe 334, which would have gotten a 1 star review from me had I taken the time to review it.

I can't be too critical of the food based on one experience, but that experience wasn't very good. A half warm/half cold crab omelette and bitter coffee. My substantive gripe is with the ugly amateurish remodeling and choice of art on the walls. The atmosphere is positively hostile. After nearly 16 years of frequenting this address under every other owner, I'm likely gone for good.

Had the Norwegian Salmon on the specials board and it was one of the best meals I've had in months. The chocolate bread pudding is to die for and top it all off they have a good variety of micro breweries (at least 10 brews if not more.) I travel on business a lot and you won't be dissapointed here.

Great food at reasonable prices. From burgers to duck. From a good selection of wine to a good selection of beer.

  • Jane L.

The food is quite special and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed. However, the prices are a bit high in my opinion. I recommend the burger, duck, and pork belly, but just be aware that their recommended medium rare for the duck is barely cooked. On the other hand, the steak is much too salty, charred on the outside, and not a high quality meat (is tough).

I dig this place. Breakfast, dinner, and barbecue on Sundays. Great tap list, have rarely been disappointed by a dish, and am often really impressed. Portion-to-price ratios are great. The patio is huge and well shaded. But I have consistently received mediocre service. Nice people, not rude, but not quick. I will go back, partly because there are only so many options for good chow in Sioux Falls. With better trained servers it would get the vast majority of my downtown dining business. Also, don't go here on your birthday expecting any kind of special treatment (much less dessert).

House made thyme and black pepper pasta. Out of this world! Pasta was perfect with a little kick of pepper, bolognese sauce is tremendous, big, bold, meaty, tomatoey chunky and delicious. Makes you feel good inside No frills bar with a good beer selection. But here kids, it's all about the food.

The food was good. I recommend the pork ribeye- was amazing. The house salad was really tasty and delicious. The scallops were okay.... In general I wouldn't recommend getting fish or seafood at this restaurant. I was upset that I missed the Sunday bbq... As I came on a Saturday but will look forward to going soon.

What a surprise meal. It was a very pleasant evening in Sioux Falls. There was live jazz music and we sat outside for in the patio for dinner. Our sever Marcus was very nice. We tried the burger which I loved. The burger had crisp bacon house made bun and was juicy. The peanut butter banana pie and duck tacos were also excellent!!!

This is my 2nd trip here. First time for dinner several weeks ago and today for lunch. I had the bbq pork sandwich and the double stout beer. Both were excellent. But what sets this place apart from others is not just fantastic food, but the service is over the top great. Emily was handing the patio today and besides being a great server, she knew the menu and could make excellent recommendations for both the food and the beer. Perhaps the only negative would be that the bread on the sandwich got too soggy by the end of the meal. Though the advantage is I ate just the meat and saved the carbs for another beer, which was 2 for 1!

Had my meal outside with a party of three. The hostess and wait staff were quite courteous. While being escorted to our table, the interior atmosphere was heavy with the smell of cooking from the kitchen. Good thing the weather was agreeable on that day. There was live entertainment, which was a plus that quickly turned into an annoyance when the singer made conversation difficult at times. We started our meal with the Bread Plate, which was perfect for three. The bread itself had a crisp crust and soft body. The black bean hummus was a little salty, but deliciously earthy. I ordered their Herring Special and was pleased with the fish. It was flaky and the skin was wonderfully seared. The potatoes were well seasoned and the garnish offered a tarty sweetness with the fish.

Smoked Salmon Louie to go, dressing on the side. Everything was fresh and delish, down to the capers and butter lettuce. The salmon and crab were cooked perfectly!

Lesson: Never ever ever go into a restaurant with a preconceived notion. Case in point: I brought my husband here for Valentine's Day. I had high expectations of the food, as it had been when I came here with my friend previously. But because it was Valentine's Day and I figured that the menu would be extremely limited, the wait staff and front of the house would be frazzled and snarky... Boy was I wrong. The staff was amazing. Very attentive, even if they weren't our designated server, they were genuinely happy, the menu was limited, as any restaurant is on Valentine's Day- but it was full of amazing food. I had a Hanger Steak with Bearnaise Butter, mashed potatoes and huge asparagus (I love huge asparagus). My husband had a pork loin cooked in duck fat, and I swear to you, my friends.. the hands-down best sweet potatoes I have EVER had. Yes, I said "I". I ate them off of his plate. Almost all of them. They were that good, and I had no shame. Then we had dessert. Holy **** was that good. I had a maple/cinnamon creme brulee and hubby had a chocolate/peanut butter cake. I loved mine. My hubby loved his too, but our tastes are a bit different- I much preferred mine, he much preferred his. Case in point- it was probably one of the best date nights we have had in a long time. We came out of that restaurant with stomachs so full of food it hurt- but it was so incredibly worth it. We will most definitely be back for another date night. Yay, Bros!!

I am constantly traveling and love to try local eats. I was looking for a great brunch and bottomless Mimosa and Bro's Delivered. Everything on the menu looked amazing I love a great crab cake and eggs Benedict put them together and you have the Pontchartrain English muffins crab cake with a pouched eggs and shrimp it's doesn't get much better than that. Brunch was amazing can't wait to try dinner

Went for dinner by myself on a Tuesday. Restaurant was pretty quiet. I started with the house salad which was nice. Veggies were fresh, maybe a touch over dressed (though I had meant to order the dressing on the side but forgot). Next I had a cup of their gumbo, also good. Finished with an the seared duck breast over a goat cheese polenta with a grilled peach salad. Duck was cooked medium rare as ordered. Small issues were that the salad was served in between the duck breast and the polenta; the heat from both wilted the greens. I would of personally served the duck over the polenta with the greens on the side. Also the peaches in the salad appeared to be from a can. I understand that you probably can't get fresh peaches in February in South Dakota, but I'd rather see a different fresh fruit used. Overall it was good, and priced reasonably. Service was friendly.

Enjoyed my recent dinner at Bros. I had to try the pork belly and it lived up to its reputation! Yum. Boyfriend had the scallops and they were also quite delicious. I gave Bros 4 stars for two reasons. The place wasn't full but was overly noisy. It would be more pleasant if I could easily converse with my dining companions. And the after dinner coffee was super bitter.

  • Dan M.

Bros. is a bit of puzzle. Their food is amazing. Their wine selection is excellent. Their craft beer selection is very good. However, their service is sketchy, and their atmosphere is severely lacking. The puzzle comes when you get the check. At this price point you also expect good service and great atmosphere. So this leaves them with two options. First, they could lower their prices to better match the experience. Or they could train their servers and warm-up the interior. It would be my hope that they would take the second suggestion.

This place was excellent! I am bummed that I was just passing through town because I wish I could try everything on the menu! I got the gumbo and it was amazing! Just the right amount of spice. My fiancé got the pork belly and it was delicious! The beer selection is great as well. If I ever find myself in Sioux Falls again I will definitely be eating here!

Terrible service. Worse food. Management argued with my friend that his food wasn't burnt. We'll never go back. Is there less than one star?

Bar nuts are excellent. I had the lobster ravioli (it's not called ravioli, but you get the picture). My husband had a burger which was enormous. We both enjoyed some SD beers and terrific service. Will be sure to go back.

Worst service ever! I wish there was negative stars to give them... 20 minutes to take orders. More then 30 minutes for food to come. Beer without a glass. Forgot to bring a coke and fail to apologize.

So, I am in Sioux Falls wandering around on Phillips Street trying to get an idea of what downtown has to offer. I am in town for an overnight stay while my wife interviews for a job and I have just a few hours to create an impression of Sioux Falls. It is lunch time. A very friendly owner of a wine shop directed me to Bros selling me on their use of fresh, seasonal ingredients. Kudos to Bros and the wine merchant, because both impressed me! I had the BBQ Pork Comfit sandwich with the green apple and Blue Cheese coleslaw. Wow! It was amazing. I can't say much about the staff. I was the first person in the restaurant for lunch so it wasn't very challenging to show me attention. The waiter was great and the food was on time. I would recommend this place to anyone. If my wife ends up getting a position here in Sioux Falls, I will be back.

My new go to restaurant on my frequent biz trips to Sioux Falls. First of all, a great selection of beers and wines. Then the three times I was there the service was friendly and responsive, Then I really like the inventiveness of the menu. Lots of different combinations and you gotta like a restaurant that had pork belly on the menu. Prices seem reasonable for the quality and experience.

I would never have thought this place would exist in SD. I travel all over the country and the steak I had here is one of my favorites. The pairing of blackened steak, sweet peppers, black pepper gravy and mashed potatoes creates a beautiful pairing. I will come back anytime.

After getting so many recommendations, I finally got to eat at Bros. Very glad I made the time. I had the scallop risotto, and my friend had the duck breast. My scallops were delicious, and the risotto was simply good--although nothing to write home about. I'd certainly order that meal again. At least that's what I thought before I had a bite of my friend's duck breast. Can you say "buddah"? The duck practically melted on my tongue and the flavor exploded on my taste buds. Yeah--that good. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is because the greeter was very dry. I made a reservation, and he couldn't locate it. Luckily the place wasn't busy. There was also no humor or reciprocal courtesy when we were attempting to make friendly conversation in light of the misstep, and the fact that we were 5 minutes late. Thankfully the waiter and my food made the experience a good one!

Amazing Crab Cake BLT! This crap cake was thick and fresh, no frozen patties there! My husband had the Signature Chicken and Waffles and while he enjoyed it, it was a smaller portion than anticipated. The beer selection was great and the staff was fantastic. Definitely would be interested in lunch here again!

They simply missed the mark big time last night. After waiting 45 minutes after our appetizer was gone out waiter informed us they forgot to out in our order, and that they were out of what my wife ordered now. We reordered and got our food 30 minutes later. My steak was raw, and I can eat a pretty red steak, but this one was cold, my wife's fish was room temp at best, and she got to eat that while I waited for my steak to be recooked. Steak came out the. 2nd time and was fine. On good quality alone I'd say it was below average. Waiter brought us two glasses of wine since we had finished out wine waiting for our food. I don't complain to wait staff as I feel if you run a legit joint they will do the right thing. But our bill was a full price meal! I don't expect to eat for free ever, but the margin should have definitely been comped for this miserable experience. I paid $130 for the meal and tipped 15% since that is apparently what they felt that meal was worth, but it will be the last time I eat there for business or pleasure.

I can't review this business on the basis of their food or service because they refused to give me either of them. My business associate and I walked in at 1:45pm because we had 10 minutes to each lunch and had heard great things about their soups. When we walked in the door the entire staff except one cook was sitting at the bar talking and counting their tips. They didn't approach us so we walked toward the bar. My friend said, "Can we get some food?" and a waiter sheepishly said, "The kitchen closes at 1:45. I said, "The door says you're open till 2pm." "We are open till 2 but the kitchen closes at 1:45." said the waiter. "Then why are you still open?" said my friend. We left and we'll never be back. They need to either put on the door that the kitchen closes at 1:45pm or lock the doors at 1:45 or keep serving food until they close. They are not in business to let the kitchen staff go home earlier, they're in business to stay in business and not serving food to willing customers is not going to help them achieve that. Would Starbucks close 15 minutes early so they could clean up their machines? It was stupid and a bad business move. Good food? Maybe. Bad business sense? Definitely.

Had lunch here and the shrimp po boy was hands down the best I've ever had! In 3 years I've made quick work off all the restaurants offered and I can say Bros is in the top 2 (Parker's the other). Hard to beat Bros in the sense of dining options for brunch lunch and dinner. Makes for a great day strolling Phillips Avenue downtown Sioux Falls.

My favorite restaurant in Sioux Falls. Why can't we have more places like bros? Simple, creative menu, space with character that isn't HUGE, outdoor patio, good beer, good people, friendly local atmosphere. I recommend the pork belly for dinner and the shrimp n grits for brunch.

Went solo on a Friday night around 5. After reading the reviews, I'd called ahead and asked to make a reservation. When the guy who answered the phone found out it was just me, he told me to just come on in. When I arrived, I was immediately asked if I had a reservation. -.- All but two of the tables were empty... "No, I was told I wouldn't need one." Luckily for me the guy with whom I spoke on the phone jumped to my rescue: "Oh no, she's ok!!" I was ushered to the bar. The bartender humored me while I sampled a few beers, deciding on the Teton Ale. Delish. I appreciated his patience. After seeing oysters on the menu, I asked when they were flown in. Wednesday. Alright, let's take a risk. A half dozen later, I was supremely pleased. They were freshly shucked, with the oyster left attached to the stem to verify freshness. The shells were small and deep with good nectar. I regretted it later when I found out that "Market Price" was $2.50/oyster. The cheese plate was pitiful. Huge wedges of Walmart-style cheese (the herbed goat cheese being the only exception), 5 tiny pita chips, woefully out-of-season raspberries and sickeningly mushy sweet candied walnuts. Yuck. I considered a Caesar salad but decided against it- good thing too. I paid $38 for two beers, 6 oysters and crappy cheese. Holy moly. Come for beer. Consider eating elsewhere unless you have an expense account.

No better place to drink bomb ass craft beer and get a meal that can stand up to it. Ryan Tracy is on the top of lists as far as chefs go in Sioux Falls. If you're here on a weekend-get the seafood feature. Whatever it is. Get it. Otherwise, the pork belly is to die for and I'll go for whatever risotto option is on the current menu. Finish off your weekend with brunch on Sunday. Delicious. I come here at least once a week and it would only be more if I had the opportunity.

Hands down one of the best dinners I have had in a while. I came for dinner by myself on a Tuesday and found out they have two for one beers on Tuesdays. With a great craft beer selection I was immediately happy with the place. The bar is long for a small restaurant and a good place to chill out by yourself (which I often do because I travel a lot for work). I had the gumbo with shrimp and the crab cake blt. Both were phenomenal and being from New Orleans I am always a little skeptical of Cajun restaurants. Both dishes were beyond my expectation and is definitely somewhere I will come back to repeatedly. The only reason why I'm not giving them 5 stars is because the scallops seemed a little over priced at $28 and there were several other menu options listed on Yelp! That weren't on the menu. I was geared up for shrimp and grits and shrimp po boys, but was a little disappointed when neither were on the menu. However, it's a great testament to the care put into planning the menu and all in all is a great place. Highly recommend!

Where do I start? The menu is nothing short of average. The food is overpriced. The staff consists of nihilistic hipsters. Seek out a better dining experience at Parker's, Haskett's or Perkin's for that matter. The best thing about this restaurant are the disgusting red walls throughout this dump.

My review is for breakfast only, love the concept of being able to get breakfast until 2pm on Sunday. Excellent cup of coffee, a bit strong, but a touch of cream saved the day. My Biscuit with Sausage Gravy arrived with one huge biscuit and and wonderfully peppery gravy. I love heat in my food, my only complaint of the whole experience was just a touch too much cayenne, even for me. The pumpkin pancake....yum! My dinner mate had a great steak and eggs. The steak was flavorful and perfectly grilled, O'brien potatoes also had that smokey, from the grill flavor, sunny side up eggs-never seen eggs so perfectly cooked. Their raspberry jam, just like moms! The restaurant section was a sunny bright space with lots of windows, service was peppy and efficient.

I was very disappointed last weekend when we stopped in to Bros for a friends birthday. We live about 40 miles away and failed to make a reservation but thought we would check there anyway as my husband and I had had a previous good experience. When we walked in (7 of us) the hostess asked if we had a reservation. I said no to which she said "No, there is no room for you". I was taken aback as she didn't acted like we were imposing on her to find us a seat. I also thought she would have said she couldn't get us in for an hour or so or at least say I'm sorry I can't help you. We simply got a No! We walked down the street to Minervas and ate dinner (a much better restaurant). My husband and I returned this week (because I had a groupon to use) and again were asked if we had a reservation. It was 5:45 on a Wednesday so I didn't think I needed one. The place was half empty but they still said they would have to seat us in a wobbly high top in the bar. Fine with us. The waiter was great, even thanking me for telling him we would be using a groupon. But when he brought our bill he was ticked that I didn't tell him we had a groupon. Huh? Anyway my husband had the duck before and it was delicious so he ordered it again. He was no impressed with it at all. Plus it was served in a huge bowl over ramen noodles (for $25) so it was very difficult to cut. I had the flank steak. I felt I could have cooked it better at home. Not impressed! The waiter said they were out of the seafood as it had been a busy week (mind you they are closed on MOndays so I guess Tuesday was the busy day). Good luck if you choose to go here but be sure to get a reservation! I feel there are so many better choices in Sioux Falls downtown.

Awesome choice of microbrews on tap. Awesome friendly service. Awesome food. Bottom line: awesome. Seriously the entree choices were atypical for the area: vegetarian pie, grits and shrimps to name a couple. The food was exquisite.

We've eaten there twice and had bad experiences both times. Our entrees arrived before our salads! Unfortunately, there was no one around to complain to, except the very young wait staff who didn't seem to understand the problem. The place lacks adult supervision.

Spent the evening in Sioux Falls for business travel but was fortunate to have my mother join me. We decided to try this place and we were so happy we did. The decor was understated and nice, the server was awesome, and the food was great. Definitely recommend this place to anyone in Sioux Falls. The chef's were accommodating and the specials really were special! Cheers to a fantastic establishment. Let me add, I have lived in several Metropolitan cities (San Francisco as of now) and to those reviewers that knocked the decor.... Are you smoking crack? This place looks great.... I live in one of the best cities for food and weekly their are shows on the food network talking about amazing restaurants here in San Francisco... I would put Bros Brasserie on par with several of these French Country/Italian gourmet bistro style joints in my city.... decor, food and staff were all pleasant.

Awesome food and beer! Defo the best meal we've had crossing the state of South Dakota. My only criticism is I wish my entree came with more veggies. 1/3 chicken and mashed potatoes needs more than 3 asparagus spears. Flavors were all 100% on the money. My wife's flank steak could have been cooked a little more as well. That said, I would defo go back in a heartbeat. Would also recommend to a friend.

We were travellign from Chicago to Spearfish canyon and just happened to stop on through here. All I have to say is that I am pretty impressed. The place could hold it's own amongst many of Chicago's spots. You can tell they put care in to their preps and do well with the sourcing of their ingredients. I would be a regular here if I lived in the area.
